Mac-Aprils!! .... Mac Attack 6

A gush of bird-song, a patter of dew,
A cloud, and a rainbow's warning,
Suddenly sunshine and perfect blue
An April day in the morning.
Harriet Prescott Spofford

WHAT’S YOUR HOLIDAY?

April is here but no fools are we! One would imagine that Easter is the obvious choice for April’s Mac Attack Challenge, but as we sat and thought about it, visions of bunnies and eggs in pastel colors floating before our eyes, we realized that not everyone celebrates Easter. But April, that doorway to Springtime, a month of both sunshine and rain, is jam-packed with holidays, from April Fool’s Day (Poisson d’Avril for you Francophiles) on the First all the way to Arbor Day jumping on board the last Friday of the month. And in between we find yes, Easter, but Passover as well – and don’t we love yeast-less, flour-less macarons at Passover? – World Health Day and Earth Day among others. So we have decided to leave the choice up to you! It may be religious or national or something in between, but this month of April, your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is for your macarons to be influenced by an April holiday. Just let us know how your macs relate to a specific holiday.

Now, Mac Passionates, go forth and create!

Please have your Mac Attack post up
no later than April 10 '10.

Here are the rules of the game:
  1. Once you have posted your Mac Attack macarons on your blog, please make sure you leave a comment with a link here on this post.
  2. Please link back to this challenge on your post.
  3. Please feel free to use the Mac Tweets logo. It isn't mandatory but is a nice way to get the word out!
Round up will be on April 15, 2010.

ATTENTION PLEASE!!! Do add Mactweets to your RSS feed or sign up for e-mail alerts. This way you will always be in the loop and know as soon as we add a new post, a tutorial or a round up. And, as always, spread the word! Thank you!!

"MacAttack 5"... the round-up

FLOWERS FLOWERS EVERYWHERE...

Spring is in the air and there are flowers everywhere..... well, it never hurts to try! The days go from cold to colder and back again, a little snow here, a little rain there, but at the merest hint of a warm breeze, at even the slightest shimmer of a ray of sunshine, we jump up, throw off our sweater and run to the window to look. Is it here? Spring? Endless days of pleasure strolling barefoot through green grass, breathing in the heady scent of a myriad of flowers as we gaze lovingly at the splashes here and there of color pushing gently up through the damp, dark earth. Tiny buds shyly reaching towards the sky to, days later, burst into joyous, vibrant bloom! And our landscape will be awash in color.

But for the moment, most of us can only pray. And wait. Impatiently. But we Mac Passionates have brought the springtime into our homes and into our hearts with this month's Mac Attack: Spring Flowers. We let our imaginations run wild by letting the colors, scents and flavors of spring flowers invade our kitchen. Our macarons, this month, are a glorious bouquet of fresh springtime flowers tumbling across our tabletops like so many tiny buds in pastel greens and bright yellows, deep violets and garish pinks and more. So come and peruse, like in the choicest of flower shops, and pick yourself the perfect bouquet of Mac Flowers.

And we at Mactweets wish each and everyone of you a Happy Macaron Day, for today is Le Jour du Macaron!

LE JOUR DU MACARON

THE DAY OF THE MACARON - Mac Attack 5 extended

Every year on March 20, the world celebrates Macaron Day. According to the site Relais Desserts, Le Jour du Macaron is

Une journée pendant laquelle chacun peut succomber avec délice à cette gourmandise ronde, légèrement bombée, au cÅ“ur moelleux et aux couleurs chatoyantes qu’est le macaron.

In other words, it’s the day when each one of us can succumb to the delights and pleasure of this lightly domed delicacy, crispy on the outside with a tender, moist center in a dazzling array of colors! And, may I dare add, the amazing flavor sensation, the burst of exquisite gustatory delight, whether simple or exotic, sweet, savory or spicy, the macaron truly tickles the tastebuds in a way that no other treat does! In other words, on March 20 we can dare to express our passion for this oh-so French treat, this dainty confection, and give in to the pure enjoyment, the gustatory pleasure of the wonderful Macaron to our hearts’ delight.

And what better way for Mactweets to celebrate this most festive and perfect occasion that posting our March roundup on The Day of the Macaron? So we at Mactweets have decided to extend this month’s Mac Attack challenge until the 15th of March so that we can post the round up on March 20, Le Jour du Macaron.

So go forth and create, fellow MacPassionates, create something special for the occasion. Eat all the macarons you like on this special day, pass the plate of macarons around and share the pleasure and don’t forget to stop by Mactweets to see the roundup of a fabulous collection of gorgeous, inventive, titillating macarons.

Don’t forget that this month’s theme is “Spring Fling: Be inspired by your favorite spring flowers.”
